Jerry Bloomberg Obituary

BLOOMBERG - Jerry, 1937 - 2023. Manufacturing and Business entrepreneur, passes at 85. Jerry Bloomberg, long-time resident of Melville, NY, died peacefully on September 12 surrounded by his wife, Sandi and sons, Ronny and Lee. Born in Brooklyn September 20, 1937, he developed a "hard work" ethic earning a basketball scholarship to Louisville. He eventually completed college and his basketball career at NYU. After several years in public accounting, he took over his father's modest manufacturing company, recognizing the potential to steer it away from low-margin, retail-oriented production and into high precision, defense contracting and medical technology manufacturing. He was fiercely loyal to his many employees, business associates, friends and family, and treated everyone with respect and dignity regardless of their origin or social status. He was a great man, loved and respected, and meant so much to so many. Though often intense and passionate, he was as equally kind, and overly generous. He is responsible for putting dozens of people into their own businesses and his "nuggets of wisdom" have proven immensely fruitful for the many who sought his advice over the years. Jerry created a successful, happy and full life for himself and his family. If asked, he would tell you his success was due to the love of his life Sandi, his wife of nearly 63 years. She understood his quirky and sometimes stubborn personality, and dedication to his business; but never for a moment doubted his unwavering devotion to her. He loved his three boys, Ronny, Lee and Michael, and reveled in their endeavors, and never missed any of their sporting events growing up. He loved his daughters-in-law Jackie and Rene and his grandchildren Corey, Ethan, Brett, Ava, Jake and Veronica who all affectionately called him "JB" and loved him very much. And even in the midst of late-stage Parkinson's, JB continued to embrace life. He was truly one-of-a-kind. A born leader, roll model, and most important, family man who will forever be missed but never, ever forgotten. Memorial Service in Honor of JB, Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 10:30am to 12:00pm. Location: Gutterman's, 8000 Jericho Turnpike, Woodbury, NY 11797; telephone: 516-921-5757. donations: in JB's honor may be made to Temple Beth Torah, Dix Hills, NY 11747.

I will forever be grateful to Jerry. Almost 30 years ago, his and Sandi´s incredible kindness and generosity toward me made it possible for me to participate in the Pan American Maccabiah Games. That experience led to many more exhilarating Maccabiah adventures that enriched my life. I think of Jerry and his beautiful family often, and I am blessed to have known him.

We gave Jerry the honor of lifting the Torah at our daughter´s Bat Mitsvah.
This was, in part, a thank you for his unsolicited and generous help during a serious family illness.
There are not enough kind words to describe what a wonderful person he was.
Our condolences to the family on the loss of this honorable man.
